Judy was a 13 year old Norwegian Elkhound who was adopted from an SPCA in the Philadelphia, PA area in 1993. She was extremely well-behaved, very social, loved kids and other dogs, liked to run, and weighed about 38 pounds.
The Norwegian Elkhound, a breed of sporting dog, is noted for its ability to hunt big game, including bear and elk. The dog has a short, strongly built body, with a short head; pointed ears; brown eyes; a powerful neck; a broad, deep chest; and a short, curled tail. Its thick, fairly smooth coat is gray in color. It stands about 51 cm (about 20.5 in) high and weighs about 20 kg (about 45 lb).
